Hi, I’m not sure what to say about having a blog….so I’m just going to breeze over that and pretend I’ve had one all along.
Today Craig and myself played music for a yoga class on Elizabeth St. in the Lower East Side. We play for tips and act all nerdy trying to match our music to the emotions of the class. It’s difficult, and lots of the time it feels like we’re not connecting, but it’s all worth it when at the end a bunch of the YogiOMbabies say they enjoyed it and it enhanced their experience.
We play for a class run by Brian Williams for Punk Rock Yoga. Brian, and the idea behind the company, are awesome and deserve your support so check it out! The classes themselves are held at Fierce Club Yoga Studio which also deserves your support. The studio will be hosting cabaret nights featuring different acts to raise money to keep the studio alive and running, I guess even yoga studios are feeling the crunch. I’m pretty sure Craig and I will be performing. I’ll keep you alls updated.
Oddly enough, right next door to the yoga studio was some sort of a TechFest going on. Craig and I walked in and some of the gadgets were cool but most of them were too much sense-stimuli for me to handle. The irony was hip and really opened our eyes to the purpose of the class.
In other news- April Smith just got a gig at The Bowery Ballroom on October 8th with the Great Picture Show. We just played the ballroom last month and it was a blast, I’m excited to play again.
Tomorrow night I have a gig with Julian Peterson Trio at Fat Baby in NYC at 8 and then with Austin Bats in Williamsburg at Spike Hill at 11. You should come to one…or both.
Some pics from today-
